Allanon trotted tirelessly towards the highlands. The further he went, the more angled the terrain became. Soon large rocks began poking through the soft sod as he climbed higher. Sharp shale prodded at his paws, but the calloused pads barely felt a thing. Angry grey clouds obliterated all traces of sun from the sky, turning the day frigid. A biting wind howled in his ears and ruffled his fur. Allanon simply ignored this, flattening his ears and gritting his teeth against the cold.
Soon, the rocks underfoot were being replaced by rough boulders. Sharp optics quickly scanned the terrain before him, shrewdly judging what path to take. Never hesitating, Allanon would leap from boulder to boulder up the face of the mountain without breaking stride. He seemed to be a phantom rather than an earth-bound creature. It wasn't long bofore he was faced with a flat-topped granite boulder at least twice his full height. Collecting himself, Allanon leapt into the air, claws scrambling for purchase as he bounded up the monolith.
Upon gaining the summit, he stood panting at the rock's edge. Layed out before him was the whole of the valley. From this spot, the highest accessible region of his territory, nothing could escape the watchful gaze of Allanon. He hoped Tala would be as impressed with this sight as he always was. Throwing back his head, he howled at the overcast heavens. The haunting cry echoed through the valley, asking Tala to meet him and announcing to the realm that a new wolf had joined the pack. The last notes began to die away as the first flakes of snow began to tumble earthwards.

Away, down the mountain, Tala heard his howl, and followed the sound. She gazed at the rough terrain. Of rocks jutting out of bigger rocks. She bounded from boulder to boulder, slipping frequently. She left to the ground, and began weaving her white white bod between the gaps in the rocks. She passed more easily on the ground, and ascended quickly. When there was no more ground to travel on, the she-wolf leaped on a rock, and bound away.
The silvery wolf finally met up with Allanon at the top. She seated herself neatly, taking a gulp for breath every now and then. She gazed out at the valley in aw struck silence. The majestic view was awesome. She smiled in wonder, and fascination. Then turned her eyes to the male wolf.
"This is such a magnificent view,"
She said, still slightly awestruck.

Allanon remained as still as an obsidian statue. Orbs fixed on a point far in the distance, but they perceived nothing. He was lost in thought and was hardly aware of anything else. When the vague sense of a warm form seated itself beside him, he assumed it was Tala without ever being sure or making any sign of noticing her presence. A wistful smile crossed his maw.
Often I come here in search of clarity and solitude. Something about this place puts the soul at ease, brings peace amid a world of chaos. It never gets old, this view. It's one of few reasons I remained in this lonely realm. I'd never seen such majesty before. Often one becomes jaded to the norm, no matter how beautiful it is, yet this never grows old. It always holds hidden surprises and delights.
He turned to look at Tala.
I just had to share this spot with you. May it bring you peace and happiness as well. And...Oh, God, I'm sorry! You are bleeding a bit. It's all my fault! I didn't mean for you to become injured on your trek here. Are you alright?

Tala looked at the male wolf as he spoke, her eyes every so often wondering to the view before them. Her soul was at peace. Her mind was no longer overcome with hatred, but something else dwelled there instead, yet she could not pinpoint it. Her was faintly aware of blood trickling down her leg,but paid no attention of it. When Allanon mentioned it, then did she look down at the scratch.
"I am fine, it is but a scratch. It is my fault for clumsiness."
She spoke, her lip twitched to a smile at his concern. No one had cared about her since her kin was murdered. She pushed the pestering thoughts away, and concentrated on Allanon.

Allanon flattened his ears and whined in concern. His gaze fell to the stone beneath his pads.
"I still feel awful that you got hurt. Are you sure you are alright? Absolutely, completely, without a shadow of a doubt alright? I am sorry, it's just that...well...as you can see I kinda turn into a big pup when I see others hurt, especially not someone as beautiful as you."
He paused and cleared his throat nervously. He looked away, aware that he sounded like an idiot.
What is wrong with me? I can't get ensnared by this siren's song. This warmth in my chest, it can't be love. I won't allow it to be. No bytch will ever get that close again, can never cut me that deep again. Come on, Allanon, don't get stupid over the first pretty dame to cross your path.

Tala looked at her paws shyly, once again, he acted like he cared about what hapened to her. Her nodded her white head in responce to his question.
"Yes, I am fine. I am sure.
she said. She looked up at him again, he actualy thought, she was beautiful. She sighed in feminine happines.

Allanon stalked closer to the edge of the boulder until the very tips of his claws peaked over the edge. He didn't trust himself to look Tala in the eye, afraid that his own lanterns would betray the emotions that constricted his heart. Slowly, he lowered his frame to the icy granite, allowing his forepaws to dangle over the abyss. The falling snow was beginning to collect on his thick fur, frosting his sable pelt with diamonds.
"Well then, Tala, if you are fine then I am as well. But I can tell from your tone that you are shocked by my inquiry. Why? Has no one ever showed you kindness or sympathy?
While waiting for a reply, he ran his gaze over the panorama, just making out the forms of racing steeds out on the flats through the ever thickening curtain of falling snow. He smiled inwardly and absent-mindedly licked his chops. Perhaps one of the nags would slip on the snow and break a leg. One could always hope to be so fortunate...

Tala looked up to the snow filled sky. Entranced by a flurry of white crystals. Her ears picked up sound from the other wolf. She still stood there unmoving. Her ears drank in him words, and she turned her head down. She stood and shook the frost of of her fur.
"It has been so long, since some one cared, that I am flustered. Sorry."
She said slowly. She mumbled the last word, unaccustomed to saying that too. She had been the heir to the pack, and so was a 'princess'. She thought she was the center of the world, and was the center of her pack. But then things changed. She no longer had everyone at her feet, no one cared what happened to her. Until now, she thought.

A barely audible whine eminated from Allanon. He craned his neck to stare at the femme behind him. Golden pools rippled with a mixture of concern and guilt. Just what had this maid gone through to make her feel as though the world has turned on her?
Don't be sorry. Don't ever be sorry. I'll just have to teach you what it's like to have someone care, won't I? From the looks of it I am going to have my work cut out for me, but I have to start somewhere. When was the last time you ate? If you wish, I could show you where some of the best game lives.
Allanon cringed inwardly. What was he thinking, offering to instigate a hunt in this weather? The trails would be steadily icing over and all the scents would be cold. Not to mention that his midnight pelt would be highly visible in this ever-whitening world. But if Tala wished it, he would not disappoint her. It was too early for that.

Tala looked out once again upon the view before her. The snow partly covered her already white coat, so it didn't change her appearance much. She sighed, a tinge of happiness in her soft voice. She milled over his words. She wouldn't mind having someone care for her, he would probably do a good job. A voice inside her cried out, not to trust so easily. She pushed it away without another thought. She would trust, only him maby. Her stomach growled to her in hunger, she looked down at in it mild pity.
If you wouldn't mind showing me, I am hungry. You don't have to bother yourself to much over me. Small game would be good now."

Allanon smiled broadly, revealing pale gleaming fangs. He sprang quickly to his feet, banner beating the air in excitement. Though his intended quarry would be small, he still felt the waves of adrenaline and anticipation crash over him, threatening to drown him in their bloody deluge.
The thrill of the soon to come kill had ensnared him, the call of his blood-lust a haunting siren's song. He was drunk on it and filled with ecstacy. It was all a game to him, from the beginning of the hunt until he felt his prey's pulse cease beneath his jaws. He wanted Tala to share in his joy as well, so he called teasingly to her.
Then so shall there be vermin to grace the lady's table. And you won't be a bother so long as you can keep up. If you can't catch me now, how can you catch dinner later?
Allanon made a play bow, spanking the stone beneath his forepaws and raising little flurries of snow. Cackling madly, he bounded from the boulder to one far below. Would Tala dare to pursue him on the slippery stone, or would she shrink back from the dangerous game?

Tala's brown pools of eyes flared with excitement. Her jaws parted into a wicked smile. She jumped to her feet accepting his challenge of the hunt. Her tail started to wag, picking up speed as time went by. Her eyes were lit up now, and she was also eager. She chuckled in the face of the danger before her. She bowed mockingly in return, and watched him dash off. She stood there for about two seconds while speaking, looking after him.
"Let us grace it then."
Her voice showed no fear, she had none to show. She turned around swiftly, and bounded over rocks after Allanon. Snow flew around her while she was at her top speed. Her long legs were not visible in the mist of snow kicked up. She was small, but had reached him, hanging back slightly. She would let him lead, she didn't know the way, he did. She breathed deeply, and swiftly, bringing the needed oxygen to her blood. It coursed through her veins, heating up slowly, her heart pumped strongly. She had no faults now.

Allanon grinned broadly, tail rapidly beating the air. He let out a loud laugh, thrilled by the fact that here was a bold minx that wouldn't shrink from a challenge. Tala was one of few Allanon had ever seen who was as reckless as he. The two figures of light and shadow raced together down the slope, slowing to a more relaxed trot when they reached more level ground.
You are quite the swift and graceful dove. Not much further now. There is a clearing down by a small creek. All manner of creature frequent it, especially in winter, because the running water never freezes up. Would you like the pleasure of the kill or shall I be chivilrous and fetch you your supper?
His breathing was slightly ragged from running and his lungs stung from the frigid air, making speech slightly difficult.

Tala's eyes shone as did her fur. Her pink tung hung out of her mouth. She slowed a little as the male did. The clouds still hung, but there was light enough to see clearly in the slightly swirling snow. Ebony, and ivory hunting together. A odd pair, but they seemed to get along, this would be a interesting winter. Tala turned her attention back to Allanon as he spoke. She smiled slightly at the praise.
"You may fetch, if you like. It doesn't mater to me either way. I will kill, the choice is up to you. Have you hunted recently?"
The white vix asked him. She really didn't care, as long as food sat in her stomach, she would be satisfied. She strained her neck to see the clearing. Nose delicately flaring, to pick up scents.

A savage light shone in Allanon's optics at Tala's question of his latest hunt. He snickered evilly.
The hunt was my only pleasure and diversion during my lonely bachelor days. In order to make the long days pass more swiftly I chose to number the days of another. My most recent kill was a few weeks ago; a yearling bighorn ewe. Not a bad kill for a lone wolf.
During his arrogant speech, a rogue snowflake flew up Allanon's snout, sending him into fits of sneezing. He stopped dead in his tracks, sneezing and pawing at his muzzle. When he finally got himself under control, sable brute gazed sheepishly at Tala through watering orbs.
Of course, the ewe was near death anyways. Malnourished little thing. And my last hunt was a couple days ago. I was outpaced by a sodding bunny. So perhaps I should lay aside chivilry because I don't think I'd be much help in catching you supper when I can hardly feed myself. I trust you dont think less of me?
He couldn't help but chuckle. Here ge was brought to tears by a killer snowflake and admitting to this alabaster seraph that he was less than Prince Charming. She must think he is a worthless fool.
