Faded padded across the land, the harsh yellow-orange summer sun beating down upon her dark back. She nearly winced as the pads of her feet collided with the harsh stones in this barren section of the ridge. Around her sprouted small plants, which seemed almost a rarity in this desolate section of earth. Panting her ears pricked at the slightest sound, and sage optics were sent to scan the land for any sign of a creature bidding her harm. It was a lizard.
Lovely... I'm jumping at lizards... She scorned herself, horribly embarassed but glad not to be caught in the act. A soft furred, grey and tan rabbit scampered across in front of her. The bytch nearly started to drool, such was the power of her hunger. Stay there little bun-bun, all is well, for soon you will fill my stomach. As she thought that it growled lazily, and she glared down between her legs.
The rabbit had paused to nibble on some little green shrub that had sprouted up in the middle of the crunchy brown dead flora that surrounded it. Slowly Faded, silver paws hitting there ground lightly, crept up upon it. Quietly... quietly... She forced herself to go slower and waited for the opportune moment before.
POUNCE! The rabbit heard her and attempted to bound off in the opposite direction but was caught in the clutches of the she-wolf. Fangs ripped through thin bits of flesh and pierced through its neck ending the pain. It was a bloody, but rather clean kill regardess. The only wounds were in it's neck and on its head. Lifeless eyes stared up at the wolf as she tossed it aside to lick the blood from her muzzle. Realizing this was a futile thing to do, for surely the once living creature would bloody her maw up quite well she stopped.
It was a skinny little thing, but served her well enough for now. She had eaten another previously, this was only the encore. Powerful jaws snapped delicate bones like they were feathers, and after devouring the flesh she carefully sucked the slightly warm marrow from the skeleton. All that she left were bits and pieces of grey and brown fur matted with browning blood scattered amoungst jagged chunks of white bone.
Satisfying... Faded sighed, eyeing the land before choosing a rather large boulder to go lie upon. Flopping upon her belly she lay on the rock. Finding this severely uncomforatable she flipped to lie on her back warming her stomach by basking in the heat of the summer. It was nice, and relaxing. Soon she had almost drifted off into a nice summer nap.

[poor Faded...no one loves you enough to reply. at least til now.]
Allanon slipped among the boulders with the ease of a cobra. So often had he traversed the barren lands that he knew where every boulder lay. He wandered along, lost in his own thoughts, until the breeze changed its course to carry a strange scent to him. The brute stopped dead, nose raised to the wind to gather in the scent. He shook his head as he silently chided himself. You stupid fool. They have passed the winter here and you still cannot recognize your own packmates. You are no longer alone, remember?
Allanon changed his course to steer him towards the now identified Faded. It was not long before the dark form of the bytch was spotted atop a boulder. She looks so peaceful and comfortable. Oh well, that can be fixed... He stole silently towards Faded, cringing anytime his paws overturned the gravel. If Faded heard him, she made no sign. When he finally reached her perch, he reared up on his hindlegs and rested his forepaws on the boulder. His tail beat the air and he grinned broadly. Stifling his urge to laugh, Allanon yipped loudly in an attempt to startle the bytch.

Gevaudan trotted up to the boulders. He watched Allanon try to startle Faded and gave a chuckle. It was a very nice day. It was one of those summer days where nothing gets done because the sun is just perfectly warm. Gevaudan took full advantage of this a picked one of the higher boulders. He rolled over on his back and basked in the heat. It was not long before Gevaudan’s eyelids betrayed him and he fell into a light sleep. What a nice day.

She yelped in surprise, immediately awoken from her sleep and cured of all drowsyness that had caused her to be in a such a state in the first place. God d**n you ignorant fool! She paused, eyes going wide when the fem realized who it was exactly that she was talking to. Erm... I meant to say... Ears back in worry she sighed then decided to forget it. If the brute couldn't accept her as is, that was his deal, not hers. Can't you see that I was taking a nap! A nice nap it was too... She almost pouted sullenly.
The silver tip of her tail waved behind her in annoyance like a banner expressing her side. Green eyes were squinted into tiny annoyed slits and if one listened close enough a slight growl could be heard from her throat.

Full of high spirits, Allanon had no rebuke for Faded's words. Instead, he simply laughed and dropped back to the ground where he cowered down. Ears flattened down to his skull in a picture of meek apology, but his tail still wagged playfully. In a voice laden with drama and dripping with sarcasm, he said, My sincerest apologies for disturbing your beauty sleep, Faded. I know how much you need it. He quickly jumped to a small boulder nearby before the she-wolf decided his tone was unacceptable and pounce him.

Gevaudan suddenly awoke and sat up. His ear twitched slightly and he turned toward the wind. His yellow eyes focused on something far off. The scent had come to him in his sleep for change rolled in on the air. He said quietly, so low it was only he who could hear, Once again, the scent of an unfamiliar floats to me.

Allanon noticed Gevaudan's movements from the corner of his eye but dismissed it as restlessness. After all, Allanon sensed no change in the atmosphere. Pushing the matter from his mind, he decided that Faded did in fact have the right idea before he pounced her. Stretching, Allanon proceeded to lay down on the boulder. Sleep was far from claiming him, so he kept his gaze fixed on the bytch in case she decided to exact her revenge. He sighed softly and simply enjoyed the warm sunlight.

Faded sighed, turning so that she had positioned herself in a rather odd looking position on her back. Her head was quirked to one side, eyes slitted like a snakes, and mouth wide open to let her tongue loll out. A low whine emerged from her mouth as she looked at Allanon. A new comer we have? Ah, tis of no consequence... I think... I may just, she stifled a yawn, may just... continue... napping... lest it be required of me to join you in a little game of chase or find the intruder? Her tail swayed back and forth in amusement, silver paws almost twitched in midair as if she itched for a good run. Now there was napping to do... perhaps.

Aleshanee had long ago forsaken the twittering robin that taunted her from its treetop sanctuary. Instead, she now stalked a butterfly that fluttered nearer to the ground. Every now and again her quarry would land. Growling playfully, she would pounce at it and continue her pursuit as it flew away. She chased the insect until she heard the sound of voices, slightly muffled from distance. Curious as ever, she crept closer to the source of the noise.
She watched the small pack bicker and play and it brought a smile to her face. Wow! I wonder if they always act this way? Oh, I hope so. They look like they'd be lots of fun! she thought, tail fanning the air happily. Just when she was about to leave the patch of brush where she was hidden to introduce herself to them, one of the wolves stirred and looked in her direction. The dark brute was the largest wolf she had ever seen and she cowered down lest he see her. However, when the litling voice of a femme reached her ears, she realized there was no use in hiding. She had been discovered.
I may as well say hello. There is no harm in it. Perhaps they are friendly. Aleshanee crept slowly out of the brush and approached the sunning pack. She kept her belly low to the ground and her tail thumped nervously as she drew near. Attempting to hide her anxiety behind a broad grin, she addressed the court in her typical bubbly style.
Hello! I'm Aleshanee. Who might all of you be? Sorry to intrude, but I was chasing a robin and then the robin landed in a tree and wouldn't come down so I started following a bufferfly that fluttered by and the bufferfly led me here where all of you are and I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to trespass, I was just distracted and now I think I'm lost and please don't send me away. I don't know where to go or where home is even if I did still have a home and I'm all alone and...and... She turned to look at the huge black brute that first noticed her. Will you be my friend?

She nearly choked. At first her face had been a mix between a smirk of amusement and of a blood thirsty look where it almost seemed like she wanted to bite Aleshanee's throat out. Now she was trying hard to keep a reign on her laughter. It threatened to escape in wild howling gasps from her throats, but she didn't quite want to frighten away the new little creature. She could prove to be... an amusement as the summer wiled away.
It was almost as if the air had frozen as she waited for Gevaudan (OOC: God you're name is hard to f***ing type) to reply to the new comers little stunt introduction. This was definitely going to prove to be an interesting day. So much for the nice nap in the sun.

Gevaudan looked at the pup for a time but ultimately he had no quarrel with her. He shrugged,
You may call this one Gevaudan.
He laid back down with a slight smirk on his lips. The pup must have mistaken him for the Alpha, no matter. It was Allanon who held this one's future as a member of the pack but seeing how this group was so diminutive Gevaudan doubted any would be objected let alone a harmless pup.

She c.ocked her head to one side with a quizzical expression on her face. Gevaudan? She repeated his name, giggling slightly at the way it tickled her tongue as she spoke it. That's a funny name, but I suppose Aleshanee isn't much better. So, who are the two of you, other than silent? Movement by her paw caused her to look briefly down at a beetle that scuttled across the earth. She tried to refocus her attention on the other two, but she could feel herself becoming distracted.
~
Allanon didn't quite know what to think of the whelp. She certainly was outgoing, quite a contrast from the more aloof attitudes of himself and the pack. This Aleshanee would provide an excellent diversion from the monotony of life. Besides, the naive youth didn't seem like she was exactly well equipped to survive on her own. He smiled warmly at her.
Greetings. I am Allanon, alpha of this pack, and our other silent companion is Faded. From the sound of it you are in need of a home. I would love for you to remain here. Anyone who can get Gevaudan to crack a smile should be welcomed with open arms. Allanon noticed the pup's attention begin to waver as a beetle crawled out from beneath a boulder. By the time he had finished introducing Faded, Aleshanee was completely engrossed with watching the insect.
~
Its six twig legs carried it swiftly over the pebbly ground. Her ears pricked sharply towards its, twitching slightly with each little scratch of the bug's movement. She slowly began to stalk it, keeping her nose scant inches away from it. Her eyes crossed as she squinted down her muzzle at it. The world was shut out as she followed the insect on its journey. Where you going so fast, Buggy? I wanna play whit joo. Buggy, buggy, buggy...

For some reason I don't believe that was what this little she-wolf inquired about, hinted Faded with a slightly taunting tone. She was awake now, perfectly ready for a bit of a tussle, or perhaps just entertainment for a hot summer day. After all, Shanee had started it, it was just her job to push it along. Normally this was not the raven stained silver pawed bytch's nature, but when she wanted to she could switch it up a bit.
Padding across the barren land she approached the new red wolf, grinning like a mad (woman?) wolf. It was almost frightening, but meant to be a friendly gesture none the less. I be Faded... and what, may I so sincerely inquire, is a "bufferfly" little one? The metallic colored tip of her tail waved through the air as she contemplated calling this scrawny pup like creature runt, but decided against it. She would respect her for now... however, if she ultimately proved herself the omega (omega is the lowest right?) of the pack... Well, Faded could definitely use that to her amusement.

[ooc: yeppers, omega is low man on the totem pole, low wolf in this case.]
Aleshanee somewhat reluctantly turned her attentions away from the bug. She still watched her quarry from the corner of her eye, though. It is wonderful to meet you, Faded! I hope we become good friends! I know we will be 'cuz you seem really nice. And a "bufferfly" is one of those bugs with the bright colors and the big wings that hang around flowers. A..um...a butterfly! That's right, butterfly! Grrr...rotten bufferflies flutter just high enough to be out of reach and make me angry, but I guess that's ok 'cuz they sure are purtiful.
Her head snapped back to the beetle, unable to ignore it for long. With a yip, she pounced, landing almost on top of the black insect. She batted it with a paw and giggled as it was sent tumbling. It righted itself and zoomed forward in search of safety. Aleshanee was right behind it and butted it with her nose to urge it on. This time, the insect raised itself up slightly and released a foul smelling odor. She jumped back with a yelp. When she landed she began to whimper and whine while rummbing at her muzzle. Why do they always do that? Stupid little meanie buggy! she managed to say between whimpers.

Gevaudan did not feel like doing much on a day like this. He was simply content to watch the others frolic but then something happened that changed everything. The bufferfly landed on his noise!
