Tala watched Allanon cast a wary look at the big male. So Allanon wasn't completly invincible. She gave him a slight sneer, almost unnoticable. So, Allanon didn't know were Faded was... It was weird how she dissapeared. Would she ever come back. Tala layed down, tucking her front paws beneith her. She sighed with boredom. The snowy female looked back at Allanon. "So, Alpha, have you found a alpha female to help you lead you pack of misfits?" Tala teased. She cast a slight glance to Seika, she had been silent for some time. A thought crossed Tala's mind. Did Seika realy know were Faded was? Was that why she was quiet. Tala dismissed it. She was always quiet.

Tala's question caught the brute off guard. He felt suddenly cornered and helpless as a newborn fawn on still unsteady limbs. How could she ask that question as calmly as if she were asking if the sun would rise tomorrow? And with that infuriating little smirk on her muzzle! "I... uh... that is to say...." He idly dug at the snow with one forepaw as though the answer to the question was buried beneath the icy carpet. "I haven't exactly given the matter much thought, alright?"

Seika dared to smirk, every so slightly, but it was gone a moment later and she chided herself for being so revealing. Of course their alpha male had not 'found' his female yet. Though it was common knowledge, as she considered it that Tala would very likely be his chosen. They played together nicely, blending perfectly as she always pictured the alphas of a pack would. (Played is not referring to playing you silly mutts...) A weary world this one where there is no lightedness of summer. Though to this one it should not matter. No, no. A simple thought lost to the wind. The other has yet to appear. She raised her nose into the air, breathing in lightly, but was greeted by a solemn emptiness. It smelt of winter, the cold permeated everything in a tenderly frozen dust of purity such as would wash away the sins of the wolves and let them run anew as the spring blossomed.
~~~~~~~~~~
A ways away, entranced by the gentle falling of snowflakes lay Faded. Her fur appeared salt and peppered, such had the snow turned it as she had rested. Sage optics glimmered with hope. She was hoping for spring to come soon as well. If not for the hunt, then at least for the fun that the 'bufferflies', as Aleshanee called them, would bring. Though she could not bring herself to imagine the pack in its totality frolicking so joyfully.
Snapping at a fallen crystal she wrinkled her muzzle and rose, shaking the snow from her coat and letting it fly into the atmosphere. The fem pawed lightly at the ground, whimpering in detest that there was no food to be found. Even though it presented a horrid risk she was almost willing to chase down a reckless or sickly horse from the herd that grazed below. That would be for later. For now... "For now, perhaps finding the pack is the most important thing to do..." Sniffing at the air she attempted to decipher their scents from all else, and was finally greeted by that of them all as a wind blew it their way. It was faint, but it was indeed the pack she was learning to call a place where she belonged. Her family. Her home.
Tala thoroughly enjoyed watching Allanon's discomfort. She couldn't help it if her smirk deepened. She did conrtole herself so much so as not to laugh. "I was just wondering. You have been alpha of this pack for, how long now?" Tala asked him. It was realy more of a statement than a question. A faint gleam in her eyes told him that she was just teasing him, if he would gather thr courage to look her in the eye.
The questions, the watchful eyes, the ears waiting to capture every word of his reply... They were beginning to make him uncomfortable. His flesh began to crawl as though fleas scampered across his hide. Allanon made an effort not to squirm. He remained examining what he was trying to pretend was the most interesting patch of snow that had ever existed (failing miserably, by the way. Shanee may be fascinated by snow, but not him), when he whispered "One year." He blinked a few times and repeated in a shocked and slightly awed tone. "One year?" Had it really been that long?
Gevaudan clapped his chops watching the exchange. Maybe he would go back to sleep for now and see if they had soughted this out when he woke up. For now he laid back down in the snow.
Tala was pretty proud of herself that she could make the big, black alpha so uncomfortable as to try and keep from squirming. The white female, with her peircing gaze still trained on the uncomfortable alpha, lifted a paw up to groom it to show her relaxedness at drilling the poor alpha. He still stared down at the ground, not looking up at all. Tala could hardly keep herself frm bursting out laughing. She finay took her peircing gaze off of the poor alpha. Resting it to a place behind him, overhis shoulder. "A year you say?" Tala said, once again that was more of a statement. "Do you have a betta yet even?" Tala asked. She knew the answer, but maybe it would get things going in the pack. This was probably the last question she would drill the alpha, for he was reaching his breaking point.
Teeth squeaked slightly as Allanon grated them together. He was fed up with the questions and the mixed sensations of guilt and anger that lack of answers brought. Anger at being unable to answer such simple questions, guilt because the answers should come easily. The fae's overly smug tone only served to make him feel worse. 'Cursed femmes cause nothing but strife,' he thought to himself as he tore his gaze from the snow to glare at Tala. His brows creased as he considered her question. "Do I have a beta? As of yet, no." He turned calculating eyes to where Gevaudan laid in the snow. By all accounts Gev should be beta. The only thing preventing it was trust. Gev was still an unknown, a dangerous wild card. A beta, just like an alpha, must be trusted to keep the welfare of the pack in mind at all times. 'But is he a threat to the safety of the pack, or just to me?' the alpha mused.
~~~
Shanee yawned, hot breath pluming in the crisp air. She had long ago grown bored with this pointless game of 20 Questions. The fun of watching her master squirm under questioning quickly worn off. Now she was bored. 'Dull dull stupid dummies. Wasting daylight with talk. I miss spring and the bufferflies and having FUN.' She smiled when she saw Gev resting in the snow, obviously as tired of the talk as she was. The little red wolf remembered how he chased the bufferflies with the rest last summer. Would he play now? 'Only one way to find out...' With that, Shanee trotted towards him, intending to pounce on him much as she had pounced on Allanon earlier that day.

Tala nodded her head to his answer. She lost her smirk, her face showed she was thinking. The white female followed Allanon's gaze to Gevaudan. She had an idea of what he was thinking. The big male usualy didn't speak often, unless she had been absent longer than she thought. Some how, the quiet ones were the less trusted. Tala wondered, with her amount of speaking, how much she was trusted among the pack. But then it occured to her that she realy didn't care if the others trusted her, she knew that she wouldn't intentionaly betray her pack. Tala's eyes had unfocased on Gevaudan, but now they sharpened and in her perifial vision caught the sight of Shanee creeping up on the much bigger male. This could be interesting..... Tala thought to herself, wondering what Gev would do.
