Allanon winced at Tala's voice, keenly aware of the tone of confused surprise.
And so it starts, the first whisper of dissension.
He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to silence the pessimistic voice that gnawed at his confidence, casting doubt on every decision he made. Forcing it to the back of his mind, he continued in silence. Never once did he offer any explaination of his actions to Tala or the others. His course was set and he would not alter it, lest he give in to the voice. The others could do as they wish or blindly follow their leader on what could prove to be his greatest stupidity.

Gevaudan fallow witha slight grin. They final might have a chance at catching the beast. He trotted of after the other brute and ran his tounge along his chops.

[As posted in the General Board:
Faded here. Please, I ask that you forgive me for I must leave for awhile. No questions asked please. Know that I will return, just not now. Now is not a good time for roleplaying.
Goodbye.
PS. Please feel free to use Seika and Faded in the hunt. They are yours to control merely for hunting. No speaking on their part, lest it is from Allanon's hands. She knows me. Thank you.]

Tala stared at the back of Allanon's black head, and saw him wince at her words. She felt compasion for only a second, like a flash. Her emotions changed, and she was choleric at him for not answering her question. Delicate ears picked up the sound of the more heavy padding of lager paws, Gevaudan had joined them. Hopefully they would reach their destination soon, she was begining to get impaitent, even more than usual. Oh well, it was that time of year again.

[sorry 'bout taking so long to reply. School has started once more]
Dead leaves crunched lightly as Allanon's pads ground them into the soft earth. No longer did crimson stains dapple his path. All he had to rely on now was his sense of direction and the scents the shifting breeze carried to him. Every once and a while the brute was able to discern the faint trace of blood that wafted on the breeze or pick up the strange, unfamiliar scent that he had learned to associate with their prey. Those clues were enough to encourage him and make him stay his path. The anticipation was mounting. One could feel it hang heavy in the air, infecting every member of the pack. Ground-covering trot broke into a smooth three-beat gait as he strove to overtake their yet unseen quarry. A new scent was carried on the breeze, one that told him the river was near. Just through the line of saplings growing on the banks and out into the open.

((School, got love it, lol!)) Tala parted her jaws, breathing scent-rich air, allowing them to pass over the sensitive glands inside her mouth. She could smell water, and the stench of a large animal. Somehow it was strangely familiar, but maybe she was wrong. They would find out soon enough. Tala turned her head to Allanon, seeing what the alpha would do next. The white one’s stomach growled it’s discomfort quietly.
Tala walked up to Allanon’s side, peering out into the light from the semi-darkness. The river, they were there. Just in time, she could now scent the unfamiliar, yet familiar odor. They would soon temporarily quench their blood lust. The whole pack was here, that was a good thing. Like Gevaudan had said, it was a creature of monstrous size. Hardly able to keep still, her paws were itching that bad to kill it. Only blood would relive that craving.

[sorry, friend. I don't mean to neglect you or the site. please forgive me.] Allanon's red maw gaped open in a toothy grin. So close... they were so close. He could almost feel the warm blood wash over his tongue. Trying to remain as silent as possible, he pushed through the saplings that veiled the river from his sight. Breaking through the foliage, Allanon was prepared to lunge towards their prey...which was no where in sight. What now? [ TAKE THAT!! lol. I am feeling evil today. MWAHAHAHA!!!]

(lol. were is every one else? did they leave us?)
Tala followed Allanon, staying close to him, occasionally brushing against him. Her eagerness shone in her eyes as they escaped the dense under foliage. It soon turned to puzzlement at the empty clearing along the riverbank. It wasn’t here, were was it. It should be here, but it wasn’t. Did they turn the wrong way make some kind of mistake? The female peered around, still staying beside Allanon. She turned to him, question in her deep brown eyes.

The questioning look in Tala's chocolate optics cut Allanon deep. He was supposed to have all the answers, always be right. He was alpha! Yet now he had lost them their quarry. No! I can't give up yet! I have to try to search. He had a determined set to his jaw and a hard glint in his eye. Muzzle lifted to the breeze. He drank in deep lungfuls of air, the scents swirling in his nostrils as he struggled to make head or tails of them. Nothing... nothing... there! What was that? The all too familiar yet elusive beast. Allanon trotted upriver. The muddy riverbank squelched underfoot, cushioning and cooling his footpads. He swept his gaze over the earth, searching for any hoofprints to follow. All the while he followed the invisible thread of scent that would, with luck, lead to their final destination.

((*Hmmmm*))
Tala watched Allanon struggle for the answers, scenting the air. She noticed how her questioning cut him, and grinned inwardly, smugly. She swiped those thoughts out of her mind, and followed him upriver, for once she remained a distance behind him, instead of moving to his right side. She sharply reminded herself that she was, in fact, not the alpha, as she desired. The ground was wet, good for leaving footprints. Even their own. As the mud squelched up between her white toes, she grimaced. Refraining herself to stop and shake her paws out was difficult. The mud, however, did help to sooth her heated paws, and for that she was thankful. They continued onward, up the river bank, Tala was getting hungry. Were was that diabolic animal anyway?

Faded had gone off her own way, keenly aware of the other black fem that followed her. Her eyes glinted with a mysterious essence, sage fading into darkness as she blinked. She sighed, "Why is it that you do not follow the others newcomer?" Seika was still an unknown to her. It was curious, how quiet she was. Faded herself was not even so quiet as the other darkling. A mystery. You're so confusing...
~~~~~~~~~~
Her ears flickered, curious as to what sound broke through the forest. Faintly ahead of them she could smell the beast, the scent of blood permeated the air. They were closing in on it, though she could bet that the others were having a more difficult time. It would be interesting to see the end of this hunt. With the alpha and two others gone off in a different direction only the two fems were left to take this creature down. An interesting hunt most certainly. "The beasts scent trails this way." She stated no more, no less. Only the obvious truth. Can she not scent it...? Fool...
((YAY!!! FADED IS BACK!))
Tala sighed, and then paused in the middle of it. Her delicate nose picked up a whiff of two, no, three scents. Tala had stopped walking by now, and she lifted her head up to get a better scent of it as it gently wafted through the air ever so faintly. The creature’s scent hung about the air, as did the smell of the pack. Seika, the new wolf’s exotic sent, and Faded’s scent as well. Tala wondered were the two had gone off to. The beast’s sent came from their direction, maybe they could chase it toward the rest of the pack. Tala trotted up beside Allanon, and swatted him with her tail. She sniffed the air with over-exaggerated movements to tell him to do the same.
